Restoring Our Tropical Landscape

SFPS uses its funds and volunteer power to support local botanical gardens, conservation efforts, and public planting projects.

Active Restoration

Morningside Park Palmetum

The Palmetum has featured Morningside Park since 1953. While a dozen original plantings remain, many were lost to attrition. In agreement with the City of Miami, SFPS has adopted the Palmetum to restore it to its former glory.

Conservation & History

Historic Virginia Key Park

Historic Virginia Key Beach is a significant bird flyway and a cornerstone of Miami-Dade’s social history since 1945. We work to maintain and enhance the palm diversity on this beautiful subtropical island.
